Lots and lots of antique furniture came in this week including: a great Victorian wash stand, Empire chest of drawers, ladies spinet desk, Lloyd’s loom child’s rocker, Art’s and craft’s rocker, walnut cedar chest, round oak dinning room table, nice medium size hump trunk[would make a great toy chest], Louis XV style loveseat, pair of Louis XV side chairs, Louis XV living room arm chairs, walnut tea trolley, games table, magazine tables[1 Gibbard], Canadian made loveseat, small maple student’s desk, 3 piece banded Duncan Phyfe coffee and 2 end tables set, and more. More new arrivals include: an assortment of silver plate hollowware, barometer, 1940’s Remington Rand working adding machine, parlour lamp signed Richards, hand made double size quilt, ornate brass candle holders, assorted paintings, fire screen, mahogany oval mirror, assorted chandeliers and light fixtures, large Asian porcelain fish bowl on stand, and more. A silver plate meat dome came in this week. It is the third one we’ve had in the last few weeks. Prior to this we haven’t had one in at least a year. The other two have been sold, so grab this one before we don’t see another one for a year. The most unusual item of the week is a complete vintage Tasco microscope set in a dovetailed wooden box. It comes with salts, a bunch of instruments, measuring devises, and instructions. It looks like it has barely been used.

We are resuming regular updates now that everyone has more or less recovered from the holidays. Far too many items have come in over the last few weeks to list. Some of the highlights include a collection of railroad lanterns [ CN, CPR, And Deitz ]. They came in with a couple of pairs of cool ice skates and an old pulley, we took a photo -it is attached. Than a couple of days later another batch of railroad and traffic guard lanterns came in, more CN and CPR. The replica tin signs sold so well that we got in another big batch just before Christmas; lots and lots of new humorous signs and many old favorites. Also some new wood signs and some tin railroad themed signs in case anyone has a Sheldon in the family. More new arrivals include: lots of antique lighting, an assortment of primitives, all kinds of cups and saucers, some great antique tools including 4 rare tool boxes, a large Buddha, wooden crates, and a redone folding tub stand and wringer combo. A few of the antique furniture highlights include: an unusual quarter cut oak hall bench, an exceptional pair of Victorian needlepoint ladies’ and gentleman’s chairs, full size walnut secretary desk, Gibbard campaign style night stand, some unusual Asian pieces, Victorian corner whatnot, flamed and banded mahogany sideboard on legs, corner curio cabinet by McLagan-Stratford, Ontario, cedar chests and blanket boxes, tables galore [coffee, end, hall, and dinning], and lots more. A bran new Crosley Lancaster entertainment center arrived. And that’s just the highlights!

Merry Christmas, joyous Kwanzaa, belated happy Hanukkah, joyful festivus, happy new year, and a merry whatever else you may be celebrating this season! To help accommodate holiday shopping we will be open 7 days a week, 10 am until 5 pm through January 8th, with the exceptions of Christmas day, boxing day, and new year’s day, when we will be closed. If the smell of the fireplace and The Barn doesn’t put you in the Christmas spirit than you’ve definitely got your Grinch on. A batch of Barn made benches got finished this week. We have them in 3′, 4′, 5′, and 6′. A photo is attached. We keep getting asked for them, so we brought in a whole batch of vintage Christmas decorations. We also brought in lots of great smalls and antique furniture this week, far too much to list. New items will come in daily throughout the holidays despite this being the last update for the year. New updates will begin again in January. Attached to this update is a photo of the most unusual item of the year; an outdoor sink and mirror tree thing-for lack of a better description. I’m pretty sure we are never going to see another one like it again. We would like to thank everyone for a busy 2018, it’s much appreciated. Here’s hoping we all survive the holidays and we’ll see you in 2019!

If anyone feels like having a Victorian Christmas we’ve got you covered. A bunch of Victorian upholstered furniture arrived this week including: 2 recently reupholstered sofas, a lovely lady’s and gentleman’s chair set, a platform rocker, and assorted chairs. Photos are attached. A lot of large Asian ceramic pieces came in this week including: lamps, ginger jars, a garden seat, vases, and figures. This week a batch of mirrors arrived in oval and rectangular, bevelled and not bevelled, gilt and not gilt. Lots of lamps came in, including: 7 oil lamps-a photo is attached, 2 brass lamps, 2 pairs of marble and crystal bedroom lamps, 2 milk glass lamps, desk lamp, and a pair of figurine bedroom lamps. This week a fantastic marble and alabaster Art Nouveau signed figure lamp and column showed up. Its the type of piece that doesn’t come on the market very often these days. The column lights up; a photo is attached. A shipment of reclaimed wood furniture arrived from Vancouver. The shipment was mostly special orders for customers and items we are stocking up on for the busy holiday season. However there was a new item, the Settler chest of drawers. There is a large Settler line of bedroom furniture that can be special ordered, and now we have a sample. Just in time for the first snow we brought in a sleigh, 3 and 4 seat toboggans, and a cutter sleigh. Antique furniture arrivals this week include: a pair of lime green Victorian cameo chairs, pair of oak hall chairs, set of 6 oak dinning chairs, set of six French provincial dinning chairs, round oak table with a leaf, a nice small 3 drawer oak dresser, folding card table and 2 chairs [we get asked for these a lot], piano bench, large wicker trunk, assorted bar stools, walnut dropleaf table, iron and wood plant table, and more. Some of this weeks odds and ends include: a quarter cut oak serving tray, a pair of wall sconces, half a dozen assorted chandeliers, a quantity of silver plate holloware, framed prints, 23 piece set of Royal Sometuke Nippon china, oil lamps, and more. The award for most unusual item of the week goes to a vintage framed “Ripley’s believe it or not” TV show poster from the 1980’s hosted by Jack Palance and his daughter Holly Palance. Yes some stuff from the 1980’s is now considered vintage. I feel old.

This week a shipment of solid pine furniture arrived from Springwater Ontario. Springwater arrivals include: 3 and 4 food bucket benches in a variety of colours, tall sideboards, cubby benches, ladder shelves, Haggerty side tables, tater bins, plus some new items-the Killarney chalkboard, and a $95 table in three colours with your choice of curved or tapered legs. Lots of Christmas items were put out this week, a photo is attached. As always the coolest holiday gifts come from The Barn and we are well stocked. Antique furniture arrivals this week include: a flamed mahogany kneehole desk, Gibbard solid walnut tea wagon-a photo is attached, mahogany dresser and mirror, Art Deco chest of drawers and matching dresser and mirror, rocking chairs, coffee tables, a nice Queen mahogany bed, walnut chest of drawers, oval Victorian lamp table, Victorian ladies chair, assorted French and Victorian chairs, and more. Lots of lighting fixture this week including: a bronze chandelier, Alabaster candle chandelier, crystal chandeliers, swag lamp, and some hallway light fixtures. We are past Halloween, which means we are putting out lots of items for holiday entertaining. Another shipment of natural form tree furniture and accessories showed up this week. There are a bunch of funky tree parts on stands-a photo is attached. They are great conversation pieces. Also some large pieces of driftwood arrived. Lots of bowls and trinket boxes came in as well, a photo is attached. Tree furniture included: a desk and chair, lots of benches, and a unique and bizarre outdoor sink and mirror combo. Lots of great smalls came in this week including: a pair of sterling and crystal hurricane candle holders, sterling silver [mint dish, fish plate, toast rack, candle holders, creamer, and pitcher], lots of silver plated hollowware and flatware, Onyx [figure, candle holder, clock, and cool swan box], lots of heavy cut glass pieces, assorted crystal pieces and sets of glasses, a nice pair of ornate pickle cruets, coloured glass and china odds and ends, a large ceramic vase, assorted tools, a French style phone, mirrors, miniature antique toy trucks, and more. Two signed framed winter scene prints arrived, as did prints of barns ironically. The tree coat racks from a few weeks ago were a big hit and sold out quickly so we got in another batch this week. You can scroll down this page to the September 24th update to see a photo. For the vain among us 10 mirrors came in this week, from small to quite large in various styles and colours. Antique furniture arrivals this week include: a fantastic double solid cherry poster bed, oak table desk, blue wicker chair, country French side chair, Victorian needlepoint gentleman’s chair, Kroehler chest of drawers, mid-century modern table and chairs, outdoor vegetable table, red hall tree, child’s rocker and chair, 2 different oak dressers and mirrors, small French provincial curio cabinet, set of 4 country Empire caned seat chairs, and more. Lots of crystal and glass came in this week including: sets of glasses, large and small bowls, vases both large and small, candle holders, baskets, bells, sets of plates, frogs, and even a juicer.
