It’s been nearly four months since we announced that we will be closing to the general public in the fall. We’ve been fielding copious amounts of questions ever since we made that announcement. Answers to most of these questions can be found on our FAQ page. However, given all the questions, and the trade wars, we thought we would provide updates on inventory levels, new arrivals, sales, outdoor new arrivals for spring, a closing date, and more. As we are being asked these questions many times a day, every day. 

We keep getting asked about new arrivals. For those unaware, The Barn sells both antique and new/reproduction items. Below are two separate updates, the first for antique new arrivals, and the second for new/reproduction items. 

Yes there will continue to be antique new arrivals, all spring and summer long. However, there will be a significant reduction in inventory. We are bringing in dozens of antique new arrivals every week, but more pieces are being sold and leaving than new arrivals are coming in, so there will be a gradual reduction of inventory on display over the summer months.  

New/reproduction new arrivals is a different situation. We purchase these items in large quantities, that’s one of the reasons we are able to offer low prices. We only leave one or two of each new/reproduction item on display. We have all the extra new/reproduction inventory hidden away inside The Barn, or in storage. As new/reproduction items sell, we replace the sold items with duplicates we have in storage. Because we buy in large quantities, we normally have far more stock of new/reproduction items in storage than what we have on display in The Barn. 

Since December we’ve been having sales to reduce inventory levels. During that time new/reproduction items have sold at a much faster pace than we anticipated. We have already sold out of some new/reproduction items, however approximately 85% of new/reproduction items are still in stock and available for purchase. However, sales have been so strong that we have have nearly exhausted our excess inventory, the inventory not on display. Approximately 90% of the extra stock we normally have has already been sold. What this means is that our ability to replace sold new/reproduction items has been greatly diminished. Many of these items are going to sell out over the next few months, and they will not be restocked. If the current level of sales hold over the summer, we expect to be sold out of over 80% of the new/reproduction items we normally have in stock by labour day. 

We’ve provided all this detail on inventory levels so that everyone can be aware that this is the final opportunity to purchase these items. The majority of new/reproduction items will be sold out by the end of summer. If you normally do your Christmas shopping at The Barn, and want to purchase new gift items, currently there is lots of selection. However, we will be closed by December, so don’t delay. In January, we received many requests for new/reproduction items that sold out in December. Most of these items have been restocked and are available for purchase. However, going forward, as these items sell out, they will not be restocked.  

There are still some new/reproduction shipments coming. There has been shipping delays with some of our metal birds, and wind spinners. We are expecting some to arrive in April, and the very popular blue jays, and cardinals are now scheduled to arrive in May. Also in May, as long as there are no further shipping delays, we are expecting a final shipment from our Nature Form line, and a shipment of cast iron bookends. However, that will be the end of new/reproduction new arrivals.

We are still accepting orders for new/reproduction furniture until June 30th. After June 30th only pieces on display will be offered. So if you want to place an order for any of our new/reproduction furniture lines; Irish Coast, Provence, Springwater, Sundried, Arcadia, or Lifestyle, June 30th is the final deadline. We chose June 30th because some items will take several months to arrive, and we want to make sure that there is time for everything to arrive before we close to the general public. 

The number one question we keep getting asked is; “What is your final closing date?”. The closing date is going to depend on many factors, the most important being inventory levels. If there wasn’t a trade war, and the economy was stable, the level of sales would be predictable, and we would be able to estimate a closing date. But given the current state of the global economy, very little is certain, and we likely won’t announce a closing date for some time. What we can say is this, our best guess is that we will close to the general public, some time in October. It could be sooner than October, it might be in November, there are just too many variables right now for us to announce a closing date.  

We’ve decided to simplify things and change up our sales from weekly to monthly, as our customers have been asking a tremendous number of questions regarding our weekly sales. We thought monthly sales might be easier. FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF APRIL ALL ANTIQUE ITEMS WILL BE 20% OFF! Yes, you read that right, ALL ANTIQUE ITEMS 20% OFF, all antique furniture, all antique smalls, and all antique pieces in between. New/reproduction items are not part of this sale and will not go on sale in April. To make it easy, we’ve marked all new/reproduction items with a small round yellow tag. All items that have a small round yellow tag are new/reproduction items, and are not on sale. Everything else in The Barn is 20% off for all of April. And since March 31st falls on a Monday, this sale will start one day early. We are going to call this our DON’T ASK US ANY QUESTIONS, JUST TAKE 20% OFF ALL ANTIQUES SALE.

Last month we had a TRIPLE THREAT SALE on three of our reproduction lines. That was the same week we had multiple major snow storms that made travel difficult. Many of our customers have asked us to bring this sale back, as they missed out on the sale due to the inclement weather. So, from Monday, March 24th, through Sunday, March 30th, we are having a TRIPLE THREAT SALE, do over sale. For this week all in stock Arcadia, WoW, and Provence pieces will be 20% off. Photos of all three of these lines can be seen on our Reproductions page. None of these furniture lines will be on sale in April; if you want to purchase these items at a discount, now is the time. 

There are photos below of some of this past week’s new arrivals. New arrival highlights included: a batch of 22 assorted teacups and saucers, and a terrific oak fireplace mantle. 

At The Barn we sell more tin signs than any other single item. We currently have over 300 tin signs on display, with prices ranging from $5 to $245. This week we will be having a BOGO 50% OFF SALE, on all sizes of tin signs. From Monday, March 17th through Sunday, March 23rd, buy any tin sign and get a second tin sign of equal or lesser value at 50% off. We only one put one or two of each sign on display, so if you would like a larger quantity of any tin sign, just ask. 

We choose replica tins signs for this week’s sale in part because there are many humorous signs; and given the current state of the world, who couldn’t use a laugh.

This week’s sale is the RANDOM 20/20/20% OFF SALE! We selected 20 of our most expensive pieces of reproduction furniture and 20 large pieces of antique furniture, from Monday, March 10th through Sunday, March 16th, all 40 random pieces will be 20% off. You will have to come in store to see all the pieces, however all in stock sideboards from our Arcadia line will be part of this sale, including: Eden, Rolex, Terrazzo, Illusion, Tradition, and London. We understand this will make the sale not entirely random, we’re okay with that.

Given everything that is going on these days, we would like to highlight one of our oldest Canadian suppliers, Springwater Woodcraft. We’ve been selling Springwater Woodcraft furniture for over 25 years. Springwater furniture is manufactured and finished in Springwater Ontario. As of the writing of this update we have more than 30 Springwater pieces in stock. Springwater has an extensive catalogue, and there are many finish options. We are accepting orders for all Springwater products until June 30th. If you want to support a Canadian furniture manufacturer, we recommend Springwater Woodcraft, a terrific Ontario owned and operated family business.  

For anyone trying to buy Canadian and wondering, The Barn does not import from the United States. Our business was built on importing/exporting antiques from and to the United States, but we haven’t imported a shipment from the US in over 20 years. We have sourced most of our antiques locally for the past two decades. And none of our reproduction lines are made in the USA, Elbows Up. 

This week, all antique dining room furniture is 20% off! From Monday, March 3rd through Sunday, March 9th, all antique dining chairs, dining tables, sideboards, china cabinets, and servers, are 20% off. This sale is for antique dining room furniture only, new and reproduction items are not part of this sale. 

There were lots of antique new arrivals this past week, including a collection of bronzes, a collection of milk cans, and a terrific Asian rosewood table and eight chairs with two large leaves. A few photos of some of the new arrivals are below. 

This week’s sale is a BEDROOM FURNITURE SALE! From Monday, February 24th through Sunday, March 2nd, antique and reproduction dressers, chests of drawers, vanities, nightstands, beds, wardrobes, and headboards, are all 20% off. Like all of our weekly sales, this sale applies to in stock items only. 

We’ve been getting lots of requests for items that were sold out from our Nature Form line; we heard you. This past week we received a large shipment from our Nature Form line, including: puzzle boxes in 8 styles, jewelry boxes in 3 sizes, stump vases in 5 sizes, stump bowls, Tiki paddles, large teak hand carved bowls, hand carved wooden animals, maple leaf bowls, lots of puppets, elephant tables, two sizes of the very popular carved teak baskets, skull & coffin boxes, frog croakers, salmon drums, xylophones, dragons[not real dragons carved wooden dragons], child’s animal stools[16 styles are now in stock], Buddhas, 3 sizes of twig motorcycles, an unusual new style of stump vases in 3 sizes, and more. There are photos below of some of these new arrivals. There is likely to be one more shipment from our Nature Form line in May. However, we can’t guarantee the future availability of any of these items. So, if you have your heart set on any of these products, we recommend getting them before they sell out.

This week’s sale; IT’S THE LITLLE THINGS THAT MATTER SALE! From Monday, February 17th through Sunday, February 23rd anything in a china cabinet, curio cabinet, corner cabinet, display cabinet, or flatback, is 20% off. All the small antique items; china, porcelain, crystal, glass, silver, books, etc., etc., will be 20% off. If its not in a cabinet, its not on sale. If its in a cabinet, it’s 20% off, for this week only. This sale applies to antique items only, reproduction items are not part of this sale.  

Sometimes shipments show up early, sometimes they arrive late; both happened this past week. Half of our spring shipment of outdoor metal birds and wind spinners arrived this past week. The other half of the shipment has been delayed until mid-March. There are photos below of some of these new arrivals. 

We also received a shipment of replica metal signs. Many of our best selling signs were restocked, and there are a few new signs as well. This will most likely be our final sign restock. 

Our cast iron book ends were also restocked this past week, the elk are back!  

This week’s sale is a Triple Threat Sale! This week, all in stock furniture from our Arcadia, WoW, and Provence lines is 20% off. This sale is valid from Monday February 10th, through Sunday, February 16th. Photos of all three lines can be seen on our Reproductions page.

This week’s sale is a big one! From Monday February 3rd through Sunday February 9th, all in stock furniture from our WOW and JODHPUR LINES is 20% OFF. This sale applies to in stock pieces only. The WOW and Jodhpur lines have a wide variety of pieces in many different designs, so all in store pieces will be marked with a 20% off tag. Photos of some of these pieces can be seen on our Reproductions page. There are many more WOW and Jodhpur pieces available in store. Some pieces are available boxed in original cartons upon request. 

We’ve been receiving many requests for smaller reproduction items that have sold out over the last couple of months. February will be a big month for reproductions new arrivals. Late in February we are expecting a shipment of outdoor metal birds and wind spinners. In the first half of February there is a large shipment arriving from our Nature Form line; and a restock of many of our best selling replica tin signs. As we are closing to the general public in the fall, this will be the final restock of most of these reproduction items. All smaller[non furniture] reproduction items are available while quantities last.

This week’s sale is a MIRRORS AND LIGHTING SALE. From Monday, January 27th through Sunday February 2nd all in stock MIRRORS AND LIGHTING is 20% OFF. This sale applies to wall mirrors, shaving mirrors, Chevelle mirrors, table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, wall sconces, ceiling light fixtures, and oil lamps. This sale does not apply to furniture that is sold with mirror[s]. For example, dresser and mirror sets are not part of this sale. Bedroom sets that include mirrors are also not on sale. 

Sales of our reclaimed wood Irish Coast line have exploded since we announced our eventual closing to the general general. Several pieces in the line have already sold out. However, we are still excepting orders for the Irish Coast line, until the end of June. A shipment of orders for our customers arrived this past week. We decided to add a few extra pieces to the order. We now have the Irish Coast medium dining table, and the Irish Coast three drawer nightstands temporarily back in stock, with limited quantities. Springwater is one of our oldest suppliers and this is the first sale we’ve ever offered on Springwater products. This sale applies to in stock Springwater pieces only, orders do not apply.
